Amazing July holiday to the Isle of Wight
I thoroughly enjoyed a recent trip with my 4 year old son Jack to the Isle of Wight. Not a day has passed since without Jack asking to return to the hotel, how could he not love it when he enjoyed football in the hotel’s beautiful garden while I relaxed over a cuppa after breakfast, and took to referring to the wonderful play house as his holiday home in the garden! It was sun and fun all day long.
For us, the Isle of Wight ticks all the boxes; beautiful clean spacious room, great meals; lovely choice for the children. The location is ideal; opposite the hotel we hopped on the road train and enjoyed a great trip around Shanklin, through the town, down past the beach, stunning views and good fun. The cliff lift meant we could wander 10 minutes along the level with Jack’s bike and go down to the beach in the lift, enjoy a go on the beach slide, cuppa and back to the hotel for a swim in a very warm pool.
We visited to the Waltzing Waters theatre (Jack loves music and waterfalls so was in his element!) The weather was amazing, almost too hot! So, a day was spent on the Sandown beach, where we hired the parasol, loungers, windbreak, and had all food and drink just beside us, and facilities were a short walk (or hop!) across the hot sand – everything that we needed! A short drive to Ryde meant that the choice of activities was endless; ice rink, swimming pool, children’s outdoor rides centre, cafes, open top bus to enjoy a tour of any of the island …. Or, in Jack’s case you might just enjoy an hour watching hovercrafts!
The fact that we can have a mini adventure going on the ferry for half an hour really makes the holiday for Jack, and the shops in Lymington on the way home really made the trip for me! Not forgetting the picnic with our family in the New Forest en route to the ferry – it made the holiday! Tiny horses on the lanes sheltering under the bridge from the hot sun, so sweet and just minutes from the ferry!
Jack (and I!) are counting down to months to the next visit! I highly recommend it – and not just because I work for the company!
