Daish’s Travel wins two national awards!!

The annual Group Leisure awards, held recently in the Birmingham Hilton Metropole, is the travel industry’s most prestigious event for group travel, with 20 awards in various categories. This year Daish’s Travel won one outright and was a runner-up in another -  against tough competition from some of the biggest names in UK travel.
J-Team Torquay girl, Julia Pearce, won the very top accolade of the “Excellence Award – for an individual’s service to group travel organisers”. Julia has been Daish’s Groups Supervisor for four years. During this time turnover from groups has doubled, and it now accounts for a fifth of all Daish’s business. And Daish’s was runner up in the category “Best Coach or Tour Operator” – a category that included industry giants Saga, Airedale and Interchoice.
Getting to the finals of the Group Leisure Awards is an amazing achievement for a small company like Daish’s. Groups are a very important source of business for our Torquay Devonshire Hotel, and our three others in Newquay, Bournemouth and Shanklin, and they play a major part in keeping our hotels fully booked every night of the year. These awards are based on votes of Group Organisers themselves, so we are immensely proud to have received such nationwide recognition. Julia’s Excellence Award is a clear confirmation of her exceptionally high standards of customer care and organisation. Group Organisers can be extremely demanding, but Julia has a knack of putting them totally at ease – and getting them to book again and again with us. Julia is a Torquay girl, born, bred and educated, and she takes great pride and pleasure in showcasing her home town to our Groups.
