A Daish’s Valentine’s to remember

Daish’s hotels always try to make Valentine’s Day a little bit special, with flowers and chocolates, balloons and menus to suit the occasion, and after dinner quizzes and entertainment to match. This year was a little unusual, in that Valentine’s was during the same week as half term – so the hotels all had lots of families staying too.

Bournemouth’s menu writers really went to town, with “Aphrodisiac soup of the day”, “Lusty Leg of Pork” and “Luscious Lover Lemon Gateau”, Newquay had “about a million” balloons and roses for the ladies.

In Torquay, Simon did his ever-popular version of “Mr  & Mrs”, inviting two brave couples onto the stage to try and answer questions about their partners, while the rest of the hotel guests looked on.

All the hotel staff really enjoy their Valentine’s evening and, by all accounts, our guests did too!

I am a single pensioner thinking of trying your coach holiday to Shanklin after hearing excellent recommendations from a friend. I would prefer a single room but need a room in which I can smoke as I like to have a smoke last thing before retiring. If this is not possible, could I have a room with a balcony upon which I can enjoy a smoke? Obviously, I am willing to pay a supplement for this extra facility and, if it is available, I would like to know how much. Thank you. Rick Chattaway

Hi Rick,

All hotels are, of course, non-smoking, but there is one single room in Shanklin with a balcony, room 53. If you do want to book, let the J-Team know when you call. And of course you will not be allowed to smoke IN the room.

You used to pick up in Plymouth could you tell me why you stopped it

We’re not sure where you have this information from! We still pick up regularly in Plymouth - and this year have added even more dates from there to Bournemouth and Shanklin!

PS. We are finding that the coach journey into and out of the town centre takes a very long time. Can you, or anyone, suggest a more convenient stop somewhere near the Parkway?

We don’t actually have this exact date on offer. There are several alternatives around the same time - such a 6 days on July 2nd for £249 (self drive).

You can check out all dates on our website, using the “find your holiday” search button on every page - or you can call the J-Team, 7 days a week.

Do you pick up fromStockport or Manchester ?

At the moment we have no plans to pick up anywhere in the North West, sorry!

When booking a room on-line please can you tell me what DBLSOL & DBLPRM stand for?
Anonymous

We get this question a lot - which means we should find a better way of explaning what we mean!

DBSOL = “double room for sole occupancy” - this is a larger room, usually for 2 people, than can be booked for one person, but with a supplement. The supplement will vary by destination and date, from £5 per night, to 50% extra. These are booked either when there are no single rooms left, or when someone wants a larger room to themselves

DBLPREM = double/premium room. three of our suites in Newquay/Barrowfield hotel have been completely refurbished and up-graded as “Premium Rooms” - and can be booked on most dates for an extra 10% on the brochure price. They are very elegant, and very popular!

Our “IE” route for Ipswich and Essex will be running as follows:

Ipswich (07.45), Colchester (08.20), Chelmsford (09.00), Rayleigh (09.30) and Basildon (09.50)- before heading on to one of our four hotels. We now generally have at least one departure to each hotel each month - and bookings so far have been very good.

SEQUENCE DANCE LESSONS ON A DAISH’S HOLIDAY.

I thought I would give you a short report on our first Tuition Tour at The Barrowfield last week. First of all, I didn’t get to see Richard before we were whisked away on the coach, so would you please pass on our grateful thanks for all the help that he and his staff gave us during our stay. He allowed us not only to use the equipment during the afternoons but also in the evenings between dinner and Bingo.

The tuition was most enjoyable and was well received by the guests. We had two couples that knew a little bit about Sequence dancing but many that had never done it before. Everyone seemed to enjoy our teaching methods (learn, and have a laugh at the same time!) and there were other guests that came along just to watch and sing along to our music.

We were especially pleased to be able to put on some dancing after dinner (between 7.45 and 8.30pm) and many guests who were not able to come during the afternoon (out on coach trips etc) joined us on the floor to do some of the dances that we had taught during the afternoon.

Some we understand are definitely thinking of coming back to Newquay on 22nd February and also some have great interest in our two future visits to Torquay. And most pleasing for us was the fact that quite a few people have decided to join Sequence Dance classes when they return home!

Thank you again for your help and guidance, and we will see you soon.

Mike and Audrey

Have you discontinued pick-ups from Torquay? If so, then please take me off you mailing list as I have no way to get to Exeter Services. I have enjoyed your trips in the past when you used to pick-up in Torquay. Regards

One of our new regular pickups in 2012 is Newton Abbot (Penn Inn Roundabout) on all CS routes out of Cornwall to Bournemouth and Shanklin. We are also looking at adding Newton Abbot on some dates to Newquay too . So, although we wont be starting in Torquay, we do get very close - much closer than Exeter Services!

PS. If you (or anyone) would like to be taken off our mailing list, we will need you name and postcode too. “anonymous” is quite hard to find among out 100,000 customers!!
