COME ON IN, THE WATER’S LOVELY!

After a fairly soggy April and early May, the sun is out again on the south coast. In Torquay, temperatures have risen under a mosty blue sky - and the Devonshire’s heated outdoor pool is being readied for action. Maintenance men, Lenny (pictured, in pool!) and Paul, have been busy putting the finishing touches, including the addition of some bright new sunshades. The water is already at a comfortable 70degrees.

Lovely!

Do all the Daish's Hotels have complimentary toiletries and coffee/tea making facilities
Anonymous

Yes they do!

when are you going to do pick ups from burton on trent as i know a lot of people that would like to go but are put off by the expensive taxi service to derby and back
Anonymous

Burton on Trent is one of a number of towns where we currently have no pick up, but would like one. Sometimes, these towns can be added to existing routes with no major changes while some, like Burton, will need a completely new route. So we are sometimes put off by the expensive cost of starting a new route too!

But do keep in touch; hopefully we can include your town soon.

Do all your hotels have lifts and/or ground floor rooms?
Anonymous

All our hotels have lifts. They all have ground floor rooms too - though some have more than others. Shanklin, for instance, only has two. Some rooms - for example those in the upper floor in the lodge in Torquay, have no lift access. And of course some rooms are further than others from the lifts.

We strongly recommend that anyone who needs level access, ground floor or lift access to their bedroom and other public areas contacts the J-Team before booking. This way you and we can make sure that the hotels are suitable for your needs.

Every night we have well over 500 guests in our four hotels - many with walking difficulties, and seem to manage to keep just about all of them happy!

BOURNEMOUTH DAISH’S DECADES  “A Touch of Bond”

Our April DAISH’s DECADES in Bournemouth was really something special! As well as featuring top entertainment from the last 50 years, it was also a celebration of the James Bond phenomenon, which is 50 this year too! Vicky Brown again hosted, supported  (and organised) the entertainment on all 4 nights, including Bingo, Bond quizzes, Play Your Cards Right – and offering a Vodka Martini cocktail on the first night too!  There was also an excursion to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu – with its great display of cars from the Bond Films!

Teddy Boy Mark Curtis got everything off to a lively start, with hits from the ‘Rock and Roll’ decade. The music (and the martinis?) meant there was a full dance floor! On Friday, Diane James and Lea Martin performed songs from the Bond movies.

On Saturday we had Diane Farrell as – (who else) - Shirley Bassey!! And what a show it was too – with all the hits, and a great show to match. The final evening featured our resident Mike Moran with great music and comedy.

Look out for our next two Decades specials in May in Torquay and June in Newquay – we’re back in Bournemouth again in October.

Turkey and Tinsel – at all Daish’s holidays in late October, November and December.

Daish’s offers Turkey and Tinsel Group Holidays in its four hotels; Daish’s in Shanklin, the Devonshire in Torquay; the Barrowfield in Newquay and the Bournemouth Sands.

An undoubted Daish’s highlight, Tinsel and Turkey tours start in all hotels during the last week in October and run right through until Christmas itself. The hotels are fully decorated and their staff all enter into the spirit, bringing Christmas cheer at the end of the year. Each day represents a day from the Christmas period, featuring the traditions of that day, with live entertainment, bingo and dancing each night – and pressies for all.

Book now online, or by phone with the J-Team.

PS. Many dates are already full, so “book early to avoid disappointment”

TWO NEW CORNWALL EXCURSIONS – INCLUDING THE MAGNIFICENT SUB-TROPICAL TREBAH GARDENS and the NEW WORLD HERITAGE SITE “HEARTLANDS CORNWALL”

On the south coast of Cornwall, just outside Falmouth, sits the magnificent Trebah estate, a magnificent sub-tropical valley garden sweeping down towards its own beach on the Helford River. Trebah is a riot of colour from early Spring, with a vast collection of Magnolias, Camelias, Rhododendrons, Hydrangea, water gardens, huge trees and Gunnera (giant rhubarb). Regarded as one of the world’s greatest gardens, Trebah also has a great cafe and garden shop and fascinating history – including a pivotal role in the D-Day landings.

“Heartlands Cornwall” at Camborne, is a fascinating centre dedicated to the history of tin-mining, and the legacy of Cornish tin miners as they exported their skills all over the world. With its exhibits, displays, arts and craft studios, live entertainment, gardens of the world, and regular markets, we are sure this will soon become a very popular visitor destination – and it’s FREE to enter!

The Barrowfield will be offering two day excursions including Trebah Gardens, (and possibly a stop at St Michaels Mount and a visit to the Cyder Farm on the return home) and HEARTLANDS (also including Cornish Treasure)

SIMON RUNS THE LONDON MARATHON IN UNDER FOUR HOURS!!

BIG congratulations from all at Daish’s to the Devonshire’s Simon Singleton who, we have just heard, completed the London Marathon in the AMAZING time of 3hrs 56 minutes.

We’ll add details, stories and photos as soon as he’s back (if he can walk up the hill to the hotel!) - and let you know how much he has raised from our wonderful Daish’s guests for his charity. It was well over £2000 at the last count.
